Antique Maps

Jenny has been a specialist dealer in Antiquarian Maps and Atlases for over 30 years, exhibiting at International Map fairs in the UK, America, Europe and Middle East.

Offering a fine selection of early, genuine Antique Maps of all parts of THE WORLD from the most important 16th & 17th Century mapmakers –

Abraham Ortelius, Gerard Mercator, Willem J. Blaeu, John Speed

and many others, exhibiting the exquisite illuminated borders and cartouches which, apart from their historic content make these scarce, early maps so sought after.

Offering also a fine selection of the most decorative 16th-18th Century maps of all parts of the ‘KNOWN’ world –

NORTH AMERICA with California mapped as an Island

Mythical Islands on the early maps of EUROPE

Mapping of THE WORLD showing the voyages of Captain Cook and other early explorers, and the development of ‘TERRA AUSTRALIS’, the GREAT SOUTH ISLAND as it unfolded from 1570 – 1850.

Quality Antique Maps

Maps available on the market today date from 1477 when map printing began.

The first collection of maps of the ‘Known World’ was produced by Gerard Mercator in 1585 and introduced the most important and exciting period of map making. We still base mapping today on Mercator’s Projection!

Subsequent work by Abraham Ortelius, Jodocus Hondius, Willem Blaeu, Jan Jansson and the most famous English mapmaker John Speed, were the most decorative maps ever produced.

Jenny is happy to discuss putting together a collection, adding to a collection, sourcing a scarce map for a special gift or corporate presentation.
